Physical Characteristics:
There are many different climate zones in South Africa. The map to the left shows the different biomes. The northern part of South Africa is a Savanna, which is a grassy plane with little trees.

People part of the Zulu tribe build these huts to live in. They are found in Zululand, which is a district located in the northeastern region of the country. This is an example of a human characteristic.

Hillbrow tower is the tallest tower in the Southern Hemisphere, at 883 ft. It is located in Johannesburg, and is used for telecommunications, making it a human characteristic.

God's Window is located in Mpumalanga province which is in the northern part of the country. It is a physical characteristic, home to many species of antelope.

Another physical characteristic is Table Mountain, which overlooks Cape Town. The plateau on the mountain is approximately 2 miles long. More than 1/3 of South Africa is covered by savannas. The Kruger National Park was established in 1898 to protect the many species of animals that live there.
